Skygazer is my new creative non-fiction magazine, focusing on travel and the arts. For Issue 1, Shakespeare Returns, I will visit 10 UK destinations to watch Shakespeare plays in outdoor theatres, and write 10 travelogues based on my experiences.

The return of live theatre this summer promises to be a unique moment in our cultural history, and I want to make an artistic record of it. I will explore themes from the plays that resonate with the actors and audiences and me, as we all experience the pandemic (including loss, anger, loneliness, love and renewal).

There will be lots of gorgeous photos in the magazine, maps, synopses of the plays’ plots, and additional articles by contributing writers who specialise in travel and the arts.

Each future issue will delve into and celebrate a different area of the arts, such as literature and poetry festivals, street music, portraiture and modern sculpture. I hope that the content will be emotionally evocative, thought-provoking, informative and inspiring.

Free copies of Skygazer magazine will be distributed through theatres, arts centres, libraries and book shops. Readers will also be able to buy copies online, and by supporting a crowdfunding campaign later in 2021.
