I was the property writer for the Henley Standard newspaper between 2018 and 2020, and again in 2022. You have to work quickly to keep up with the hard deadlines and commercial pressures on a weekly print publication, so this was a uniquely challenging and interesting experience for me. Each week I wrote a feature about a property for sale (such as this one, or this one), and submitted news articles about the UK property market and local housing issues. This work involved interviewing vendors, conducting research, liaising with estate agents and curating images.
I have also contributed to the arts and entertainment section of the Henley Standard over the years. For example, I interviewed Jo Whiley for a feature article before her 90s Anthems DJ set at Henley Festival. I wrote a review of Foo Fighters when they performed at Reading Festival in 2019, and have also reviewed plays at the Kenton Theatre and talks at Henley Literary Festival.
