My name is Alison Stodolnic and I am a freelance copywriter, editor and journalist. I have many years of business experience behind me, and now I make my living as a writer. The rest of the time you’ll find me reading, running, travelling, dog-walking, going to the theatre, doing yoga or growing things in my garden.
Copywriting and editing
As a professional copywriter and copy editor, I help my clients communicate with their stakeholders in a clear and consistent way. I am excellent at turning long, complex source materials into concise, engaging copy that is easy to understand.
I collaborate with a team of copywriters to produce global, regional and country-level plans and reports for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). I have also edited and rewritten documents for the charity Oxfam GB, the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA) (a global NGO network for humanitarian action) and the Riding for the Disabled Association.
Journalism
I also work as a freelance features journalist. For example, I spent a few years writing about property and the housing market for the weekly Henley Standard newspaper. I have studied at the London School of Journalism and City Lit in London, and my work has been published in several newspapers and magazines.
Marketing
Do you need a steady stream of fresh content for your online marketing activities? I can help you tell interesting stories about your business or organisation, by writing compelling website and newsletter articles or blog posts that are ready for sharing. For example, I have written news stories for The Geos Group, holiday reports for Travel Counsellors, and press articles for The Kenton Theatre.
Publishing
I can help you produce, publish and distribute your own magazine, newsletter or book. I am the owner and editor of Little Tigers — a niche magazine for families in Cheshire and Manchester. I research, write and edit the content, and build marketing partnerships with advertisers. I also commission contributors, curate images, lay out the pages on Adobe InDesign, and organise the distribution of the magazines. I have also self-published a book (made possible through a successful crowdfunding campaign), and helped several people to publish theirs.
